Guardians of the Galaxy Review

I have never heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy until last year when it was announced that there was going to be a movie coming out that was based on the comics. Then when I saw the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, it looked interesting enough for me to consider watching. Finally, the last thing that made me want to go see it was the fact that it was making a killing in the box office. So I went to go see the Guardians of the Galaxy and would have to say that it was a surprisingly awesome movie that deserved to make a killing in the box office. It has a good action-oriented storyline, humor, and great characters that all make it so that you don't want to stop watching.
Guardians of the Galaxy has a straightforward storyline that helps bring all the different characters toward one enemy. The storyline also had plenty of changing plot points that kept things interesting and the different story lines of each character made you feel more connected with them. Although, I was sort of confused by the introduction so much that I didn't know I was watching the movie until 5 minutes in. I figured out that it was not just another preview. I just felt that they could have had done better with the introduction; although, it did provide emotionally dramatic scenes later in the movie with the inclusion of the cassette-tape music and Star-Lord's flashback to his mother.
The Guardians of the Galaxy was also surprisingly funny considering that it was an action movie, and helped keep things fresh even during the serious scenes that you would think no humor should be.
Nonetheless, one of the reasons that the storyline is so strong is because of the different characters that have totally different personalities. You have Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) who has the snark commentary that is reminiscent of Iron Man's Robert Stark, and perfectly fits the kind of personality for a mercenary. Then there is Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who is an assassin that was once part of Ronan's so-called family. There is Rocket (Bradley Cooper), who is a smart, talkative genetically engineered Raccoon that brings humor and has a powerful companion named Groot (Vin Diesel); who will remind people of Vin Diesel's earlier Iron Giant character who was not very smart, has a limited vocabulary, provides humor, and is much more powerful than anyone else. Finally, there was Drax the Destroyer (Dave Batista), who was a brute of a fighter that wanted revenge for his family being murdered.
To conclude, I was really surprised at how much I liked the movie and would recommend that people see this movie. It's a movie filled with drama, humor, action, and great characters that keep Guardians of the Galaxy fresh throughout. And those are all things that make a good movie.

Storyline: 9.0/10
Action: 9.5/10
