Are NBA Lottery Prospects Really Getting Hurt?

This is an issue that I've been having with the NBA lately. First, there was a report from Yahoo Sports that said that Julius Randle of Kentucky needed surgery on his foot to remove a screw. Then Randle responded to the report by saying that it wasn't true, even his mother stated that they saw a doctor that explained that he didn't need surgery.
However, due to this report there are questions with some teams that he might miss a good portion of their offseason programs. Even though Randle has been doing predraft workouts for teams and has looked absolutely fine. He played a full year at Kentucky with the screw in his foot after hurting it in high school, so why it is a concern now. I think that teams are just putting stuff out there so he can drop in the draft.
Nonetheless, this brings me to an issue that happened today. A report that says that Embiid, the projected number one pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers might have hurt his foot. Really, another foot injury; I'm not buying it at all. Then the report says that the Cleveland doctors found the injury in his workout, which is even more suspicious. In my opinion, Cleveland said that he might have hurt his foot to make other teams like the 76ers worried that Cleveland might take Andrew Wiggins instead of Embiid. All Cleveland had to do is put word out that Embiid might be hurt and other teams would try to up their trade deals. I mean, how did he get hurt if he hasn't been in any workouts besides Cleveland after supposedly impressing them. I bet that Cleveland wants to trade with the 76ers for the #3 pick and their 10th pick, and since the 76ers are worried they might do it. Then Cleveland picks Embiid at #3 anyways and someone else at #10, or they trade both those picks with other assets to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love.
To conclude, I'm not really sure that Embiid is seriously hurt or that Randle needs surgery on his foot. But teams and people should not pay as much attention to these reports because they are probably smoke screens, especially from Cleveland.
Update: Joel Embiid has a fracture in his right foot and had surgery to fix it. He will be out 4-6 months.
