Since LeBron James chose the Cleveland Cavaliers, there has been growing speculation that they would then try to trade for Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, if the Cavaliers have any chance of receiving Kevin Love via trade they will most likely have to include Andrew Wiggins. So here are the Pros and Cons of trading Wiggins for Kevin Love.
Pros:
- Kevin Love stretches the floor more efficiently than Wiggins
- Instant Contenders for NBA Championship
- Fills a bigger positional need
- Can rebound effectively
- Love is already a proven All-Star in the NBA
- Love is willing to resign with the Cavaliers after season ends
- Creates another Big 3 for Cleveland to market
- Wiggins is still unproven
Cons:
- Wiggins has a lot of potential
- Wiggins is a really good defender compared to Love
- Cleveland would be getting rid of a possible successor to LeBron
- Wiggins would bring more highlights to the organization
- Wiggins is the No. 1 pick
- LeBron could have took Wiggins under his wing
To conclude, if the Cavaliers want to win now with LeBron. Then I think that the best option is to go after Love and include Wiggins if other options have not panned out. Love instantly would make the Cavaliers contenders for the NBA Championship because, he is a proven NBA All-Star that would space the floor efficiently for LeBron to operate to his strengths. Even though the Cavaliers would miss out on the potential of Wiggins becoming a franchise player in the NBA; a proven All-Star is worth more than the potential to become an All-Star.
